Jeonbuk Hyundai “superstar” Cho Kyu-sung, 25, has impressed national team head coach Jürgen Klinsmann ahead of the A-match schedule.
Jeonbuk won the ‘Hyundai Street Derby’ against Ulsan Hyundai 2-0 in the 16th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 on Wednesday at Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
Hosting league leaders Ulsan, Jeonbuk dominated their rivals in the 110th edition of the ‘Hyundai Street Derby’ with a goal from the team’s biggest star, Cho Kyu-sung.
Jo Kyu-sung, who came on as a substitute at the start of the second half, gave Jeonbuk a valuable lead in the 38th minute with a diving header from Jun Amano’s left-footed cross.
After the goal, a video assistant referee (VAR) review was conducted, which briefly made Cho and Jeonbuk fans nervous, but the goal was upheld as there was nothing wrong with it.
After taking the lead through Cho Kyu-sung’s goal, Jeonbuk sealed the match with a late goal from Moon Sun-min in stoppage time to secure the three points against their rivals.
The win keeps Jeonbuk in seventh place in the league but improves their points tally to 21 (6W3D7L) and closes the gap on leaders Ulsan (12W2D2L-38P), who were 20 points behind before the game.
Meanwhile, Cho Kyu-sung staged a show of force in front of Korean national soccer team coach Jürgen Klinsmann, who came to watch the game. 스포츠토토
