Hanwha opened the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League on Tuesday with a 7-0 sweep of LG at Hanwha Life Eagles Park in Daejeon.
Starting pitcher Ricardo Sanchez shut down the LG bats with eight innings of two-hit ball, two walks and eight strikeouts to earn his third win of the season. Hanwha continued its winning formula by winning all six games on Sanchez’s day.
At the plate, Kim Tae-yeon, batting second, led the offense with two hits, three RBIs and one walk, including her second two-run home run of the season in the second inning. Noh Si-hwan and Moon Hyun-bin also had two-hit multi-hit games, while first baseman Lee Jin-young also had one hit, two RBIs and one walk. 안전놀이터
Tenth-ranked Hanwha, which clinched the LG Electronics Winning Series with its second straight victory following a 6-5 walk-off win the previous day (Sept. 9), improved to 21-32-3 on the season.
After the game, Hanwha head coach Choi Won-ho commented on the victory, saying, “Sanchez pitched a perfect game and our table-setters did their job, so we were able to create chances and score early in the game to take the lead.” “It was especially important that Kim Tae-yeon, who celebrated her birthday today, made it easy for Sanchez by playing great offense and defense,” he added.
Hanwha will look to complete its first three-game sweep of the season with right-hander Jang Min-jae on the mound against LG on Nov. 11. For LG, right-hander Casey Kelly will start.
