“I will do my best to help Lotte win the Korean Series”

Ahn Kwon-soo, 30, a third-generation Korean-American outfielder for Lotte, has always been the same. In every interview, he shouted for Lotte to win. He was also one of the loudest voices in the dugout, but he is no longer in the Lotte dugout.

He is on the operating table due to an elbow injury. Lotte announced on June 6 that “Ahn Kwon-soo will undergo surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow,” adding that he is expected to be out for about three months. Therefore, we won’t see Ahn back on the field until at least September.

Lotte signed Ahn after he was released by Doosan at the end of last season. Ahn immediately established himself as the new leadoff man for Lotte, making him a free agent hit. In fact, this could be his last year in baseball. The third-generation Korean-American will have to return from military service to play for Lotte next year, which is not an easy option.

We may never see him again after this year, but the Lotte players are all looking forward to his return.

Hwang Sung-bin, who spearheaded Lotte’s offense alongside Ahn Kwon-soo, even wore Ahn’s elbow brace when he underwent elbow surgery. “I wanted to take up my brother’s slack, and I wanted to feel his energy,” said Hwang, who was grateful for the feedback he received on his hitting even when he wasn’t hitting well.

He dreams of becoming a table setter again in the near future. “I will support Kwon-soo until he recovers quickly and comes back. 메이저놀이터 I hope he will come back and join us as a table setter,” said Hwang Sung-bin.

Yoon Dong-hee, who recently appeared on Ahn’s personal YouTube channel with Kim Min-seok and showed off their close friendship, also misses Ahn Kwon-soo.

“He took care of me since camp, and I learned a lot from him,” says Yoon. There’s also a sense of missing Ahn Kwon-soo, the loudest player in the Lotte dugout. “Someone is supposed to shout from the end of the dugout, but I can’t hear him,” says Yoon, “and at first I felt empty because he wasn’t there.” He continued, “Everyone is fighting. In fact, Kwonsoo is not the only one who played a role. We’re all doing it, but it’s true that Kwon-soo had so much energy.” Although Ahn Kwon-soo is not in the dugout right now, everyone misses him and is cheering him on.
