Manchester United recorded a 2-0 victory over Arsenal in a preseason friendly at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA, at 6:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday. It was United’s third straight preseason win, following victories over Leeds United and Olympique Lyonnais.
United brought a 4-2-3-1 formation. Sancho, Garnacho, Bruno, Anthony, Mount, Mainu, Shaw, Martinez, Varane, and Wan-Bissaka filled out the starting lineup, with Heaton in goal. Arsenal’s counterpart utilized a 4-3-3 formation. Martinelli, Nketiah, Xhaka, Haberts, Reiss, Ödegaard, Tomiyas, Magalhaes, Saliba, and Timber started up front, with Ramsdale in goal.
United opened the scoring. In the fifth minute, Anthony received a pass from Bruno and tried a left-footed shot from inside the box, but the ball went wide of the right side of the goal. With the game out of reach, Arsenal began to fight back.
