The aftermath of the early elimination of the 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC) was great. The world ranking of Korean baseball has dropped another notch. 

The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) released the men’s baseball world rankings on the 28th (local time). South Korea was ranked fifth, down one notch from the previous ranking. 

WBC scores were reflected. Korea, which belonged to Group B in the first round of the main round along with Japan, Australia, the Czech Republic and China at the WBC, was eliminated early with a record of 2 wins, 2 losses and 3rd place. After a 7-8 shock loss in the first game against Australia, they bowed their heads in a 4-13 loss to their archrival Japan. 

Eventually, the world rankings also fell. Korea scored 4049 points, up 621 points from the previous ranking point of 3428, but Mexico, who succeeded in advancing to the semifinals of the tournament, came in third place with 4130 points. 

Korean men’s baseball rose to third place on December 31, 2016, then rose to second place on August 11, 2021, when the Tokyo Olympics were finished, but fell back to third place on December 31, 2021, and was pushed back to fourth place the following year. And while experiencing the WBC sluggishness, it fell to 5th place. 

Meanwhile, Japan, which won the WBC tournament for the first time in 14 years with 7 victories, firmly maintained its No. 1 position in the world rankings. It recorded 5323 points, an increase of 1144 points from the previous ranking point. Japan, which rose to the top spot on December 31, 2014, has held the top spot for nine years.  메이저사이트

The United States, the runner-up in the WBC, rose to second place with 4402 points, while Taiwan, which was eliminated in the first round along with Korea, fell to fourth place behind the United States and Mexico. 

Australia, which advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Korea, moved up one notch to 9th place (2600 points), while the Czech Republic fell one notch from the previous ranking with 1745 points (16 points). China, who lost 2-22 to Korea, raised its ranking by 7 places to rank 23rd.
