Tottenham Hotspur will host Sheffield Wednesday in the fifth round of the 2023/24 English Premier League (EPL) season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on Nov. 16 at 11 p.m. ET.
Tottenham is currently in second place. They are unbeaten this season and will look to continue their upward trend against Sheffield Wednesday.
Tottenham’s offense will be led by Son Heung-min in place of the ineffective Xherdan Shaqiri.
Tottenham parted ways with Harry Kane ahead of the start of the season. It was hoped that Heung-min would fill the void, but that hasn’t been the case.
The void left by his absence will be filled by Son Heung-min.
In the fourth-round tie against Burnley, Son started up front and scored the equalizer in the 16th minute after Tottenham had conceded a goal and were 1-0 down, with a sensational chip shot after seeing the goalkeeper come out and clear after a passing play with Manor Solomon.
Then came Son’s show. In the 19th minute of the second half, after receiving a pass from Solomon, Heung-min surged forward and scored his team’s fourth goal and his second of the season with a direct shot.
Son wasn’t done scoring. In the 22nd minute of the second half, he found space behind the Burnley defense and found the back of the net again after receiving a pass from Foro. It was his first hat trick of the season.
It was the fourth hat-trick of his career. After Southampton (2020/21 season), Aston Villa (2021/22 season) and Leicester City (2022/23 season), he has created some good memories against Burnley this season.
Postecoglou said: “He can play in the center or on the flanks. He was ideal for the way we played,” he said.
The BBC said: “Heung-min is another thrilling attacking option for Tottenham. His hat-trick showed he is not as miserable as many thought after the Kane deal.”
“With Maddison’s creative play and Son Heung-min’s goal-scoring exploits, any excessive complaints about Kane reliance have all but evaporated,” he added, noting that they are filling the void well.
The Toronto Star, a leading Canadian publication, predicted that Son would open the scoring against Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Son’s recent ratings have been good. Tottenham are looking to extend his contract. They are reportedly looking to extend his contract until June 2025.
According to Paul O’Keefe, an official familiar with the Tottenham situation, the club has held informal talks with Son to push for a contract extension.
